After nearly a year of research, trial and error, I’m please to announce 3Dphotographicart.com. It was a lot of fun developing this style of photography over the past 10 months. Typically, photographer’s create photographs on a two-dimensional platform and to suddenly have to start thinking three dimensionally and how to capture an image that accentuates a 3-D look, was quite difficult. Carly & Michael’s Wedding at the New Ohev Shalom

What a spectacular wedding. Carly and Michael’s wedding, on July 3, was at the new Ohev Shalom Temple. This was the very first wedding and reception at Ohev Shalom, which is located in Maitland. Flowers by Lee Forrest Designs, did a spectacular job at the rehearsal and was held at the Orlando Museum of Art. The wedding and reception were at the Temple the following day. Catering was by Arthur’s and the food was amazing.

This was fun. A Krispy Kreme Donut truck showed up for the send off.

Thanks again to Michael and Carly for allowing me to photograph their wedding. And a special thanks to Debbie Goldin who actually hardly to photograph her son’s wedding. We had an amazing time took nearly 5000 photographs and it took me three days just to edit it down to 2000 images. Looking forward to photographing more weddings at the temple in the future.

What An Amazing Motor Yacht

Recently, I had the pleasure to photograph an amazing motor yacht. This 70 foot Azimut Sea Jet boat was photographed on the Inter Coastal of Florida and the Bahamas let me just say, shooting yacht interiors is a lot more difficult than you think. Okay, I admit the five days I was forced to be on the yacht and photograph it was fantastic. This spectacular yacht has four bedrooms, crew quarters and five bathrooms. It also has a Jacuzzi tub on the top deck as well as a barbecue grill, refrigerator and one the most important aspects of the boat an ice-maker.

This is the VIP room. As a queen-size bed plenty of storage and a full bathroom with shower and the best part, it was my room for the five days I was there. I know it’s a tough job but somebody has to do it.

The top deck barbecue grill and outdoor eating area and was my favorite place in the yacht.

This is the salon area of the boat. It took us about four hours to light and photograph this particular interior. It was challenging however, a lot of fun!!

This is the master suite. It has his own separate entrance from the yacht. It has a king size bed, large makeup vanity and a bathroom with a steam room.

There are many other features associated with this gorgeous motor yacht. I have photographed hundreds of brochures for hotels, commercial, and home builders. And even photographed jets, airplanes and motor homes however, photographing interiors of the yacht was one of my most challenging experiences. We used many lights, flashlights and long exposures. The one thing I learned was, limit your long exposures. No matter how large a boat is, it is always moving even when it’s docked.. Did I mention it was for sale? For a mere 799,000 Euros it can be yours.

I have been using Nikon for my entire career. I use D3s and purchased the D700 camera as a backup. To my surprise, the D700 is performing wonderfully. Because I use two to three cameras at the same time, having used the D3′s, my back has been killing me after a long days photo shoot. The D700 is not as fast as my other cameras however, I love the portability and the little on camera flash. Compared to other cameras, the D700 is lightweight and now I come home without a sore back. I should’ve bought this camera long time ago! Unfortunately, the availability of this camera has diminished, because of the tsunami and difficult to find. Thanks to Ritz Camera,I was able to get a second one. I’m a professional photographer for over 20 years and Nikon has been my choice of photographic systems. Thank You Nikon and Ritz Camera!!

Details, Details, Details…

The new trend in photography has been the details. Incredible websites like Style Me Pretty, Fifty Flowers and others have been featuring detail photographs. I love it and as a matter of fact, I’ve been doing it for the last 20 years. I always find it very important to photograph the details because that’s the thing a Bride will always want to remember. A wedding day goes by fast and remembering to capture the details is my job as a photographer. From the floral, to the invitations, to the centerpieces at the reception, all have to be covered. A photographer must arrived, to the reception, before any guests arrived to document all the decor of the room. Probably the most difficult part of photographing a room, before the guest arrive, is getting the waitstaff to get out of your way. They sometimes don’t understand the importance of photographing a reception room. Without photographs, the hotel resort or mailed to show it to the next client. Because of my commercial photography background, I’m able to capture room shots better than most.

Five Steps A Bride Should Consider When Hiring A Photographer

Style: There are a number of styles to consider when researching a photographer. The first is Wedding Journalism. Images capturing the emotions of the day that tell a story. Many photographers’ claim they shoot in this fashion however; their photographs are just posed candid. Another style is Traditional Photography. These photographs are Portrait based images that are posed. There are many brides who love this classic style and need direction when being photographed. Then there is Fashion. This trend is relatively new and I’m not sure how many Brides think they are fashion models. Be very careful of this “sale”. Some photographers’ will hire professional models to showcase their portfolio and imply they are actual brides. Personally, I consider myself a Journalist with an emphasis on Traditional.
Personality: You may see some incredible photographs and what if you and the photographer have a personality clash? The photographer you are interested in has a wonderful personality however, ask yourself, “is their work and style really the one I want?”
Recommendations If you keep hearing and seeing a particular photographer’s name over and over, then they must be doing something right. If you see them on multiple referral lists from Resorts, Hotels, Country Clubs and Event Planners, then you are on the right track.
Years in Business: Time in the business, does make a huge difference. There are so many different religious denominations and locations a photographer must learn so they can anticipate the lighting, anticipate the important moments of the wedding and know the rules of a church or Resort. Has the photographer actually photograph more than 100 weddings? If not, be very weary.
When the Party is Over: Did you know that the actually “photography” of an event, makes up only 15% of the time invested with the entire production process? There is the original meeting, editing, retouching, designing and printing. If your photographer spends more than a week in post production and editing, then there is an issue. Ask them their post production schedule. If it takes longer than a week just to see the proofs, imagine how long it will take to produce an album.
